I agree with you 100%. The problem becomes, how do you combat this?
I know my cousin has an absolutely brilliant daughter, and she's gone so far as to talk with each individual teacher to see if she can get more advanced math or English assignments to do. A lot of the stuff, she's home-schooled over.
I really wish that we had the kind of education program like the Japanese or some of these other countries. Foreign exchange students come to American high schools and laugh at how easy it is, but then bitch about how far behind they're going to be when they go back the following year. And we don't see a problem with this.
